San Diego County Superior Court – Central Courthouse is where DUI cases that originate in the City of San Diego and its immediately surrounding areas in San Diego County are prosecuted.
Misdemeanor DUI cases at Central Courthouse may be prosecuted by the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office or the San Diego City Attorney.
Felony DUI cases at Central Courthouse are prosecuted by the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.

The first court appearance following a DUI arrest is called an arraignment. This appearance presents you with your first opportunity to plead “guilty,” “not guilty,” or “nolo contendere” (no contest) to any criminal charge.
Arraignments for DUI (and all other charges) at San Diego County Superior Court – Central Courthouse are heard in the following courtrooms:
- Misdemeanor arraignments: Room 1001 (1st floor)
- Felony arraignments: Room 2005 (2nd floor)
